Meet the team

Originally from The Wirral, Alan came to Derby in 1989 and worked in various accountancy practices before forming his own practice in 2001.

Away from the office, Alan enjoys spending time on his allotment, where he grows a variety of vegetables. When not tending the allotment, you can find him in the gym, taking his daughter to dance competitions or cheering on Derby County FC at Pride Park.

Aaron brings over seven years of experience in accountancy practice administration. Since joining the firm in April 2021, he has continued to expand his skills and is committed to building strong client relationships and delivering exceptional support.  In May 2026, Aaron will step into the role of Administration Manager, supported by Anita Adcock.

Outside of the office, Aaron is a keen sports enthusiast, regularly playing tennis, squash, and badminton. He also serves as Treasurer for his local tennis club.  A self‑confessed food lover, Aaron is frequently trying out various Gastro pubs and restaurants and when he’s not enjoying good food, he’s out walking with his cockapoo, Tia‑Maria.

Anita joined A Butler & Co. in 2006 on a temporary contract and has been an integral part of the team ever since!  With experience as both a PA and Administration Manager in the financial services sector, she now supports her colleague Aaron in managing the admin function.

Outside of work, Anita enjoys football, skiing and plays hockey for a Nottinghamshire league team. She loves her Greek getaways and trips to the Lake District with her husband and their fox red Labrador, Maggie!

Mark brings over fifteen years of payroll experience and has been our payroll manager since 2014, he also handles the workflow for our accounts team. His attention to detail and commitment to customer service makes him a crucial member of our team.

Outside of work, Mark enjoys spending time with his family and often takes his daughter Mia to swimming and gymnastics lessons. He is also frequently seen supporting his nephew’s football team on a Sunday morning as well as being a keen Derby County FC supporter.  Away from sport you can find Mark enjoying a beer or two at one of his local pubs, the White Swan or the Half Moon!

Jack is an AAT qualified accountant with over 11 years’ experience, specialising in areas such as individuals, partnerships and owner-managed Limited companies and businesses. He has gained experience in several areas of accounting  and building client relationships is an important part of Jack’s role.

When out of the office, you will find Jack cheering on his beloved Rams at Pride Park! He also enjoys the great outdoors, whether it be working in the garden or taking a walk around a National Trust Park with his family and Tubbs the Jack Russell.

Emily is an AAT‑qualified accountant currently working towards her ACCA chartered qualification. She has several years of experience supporting Derbyshire businesses with everything from VAT returns to year‑end accounts.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with family and friends, often getting together for board games and ordering Chinese food in, usually set meal B. She relaxes by taking her dog, Patch, on outdoor adventures and can often be found reading the latest pick for her book club.

Laura has been an integral part of A Butler & Co since day one.  She has over 27 years’ experience in the accounting industry and deals with individuals as well as owner-managed Limited companies and businesses. Laura handles all aspects of accounting, including accounts preparation, Tax Returns for both companies and individuals, and VAT Returns.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys building intricate Lego masterpieces. She often takes walks with her adopted dog, Billy and when she's not walking or working on her Lego creations, she enjoys a nice glass of wine and cuddling with her kittens, Elise and Socks.

Tom is an AAT qualified accountant with over 10 years’ experience.  Since joining our team in 2023, he works with individuals, owner-managed Limited companies and businesses. He handles all aspects of accounting, including account preparation, Tax Returns for both companies and individuals and VAT Returns.

Outside of work, Tom is passionate for all sports. You can often find him on the court playing squash and badminton. When he's not on the court, Tom enjoys cheering on his beloved Rams at Pride Park.

Harjot is an Accounts Apprentice currently studying for her AAT Level 3 qualification, with ambitions to become a Chartered Accountant. In her role, she supports the preparation of accounts and occasionally assists with VAT returns.

Outside of work, Harjot helps run her family business and volunteers at her local Gurdwara. She enjoys travelling, hiking, and is learning to play the Dilruba. She also maintains an active lifestyle by going to the gym and unwinds by watching true crime documentaries with her dog, Pablo.

Natalie joined the team in 2022 to provide extra support to the accountants.  She has over 5 years experience in the accounting industry and is now an integral part of the team.  Natalie specialises in all aspects of VAT and bookkeeping.

Away from work Natalie spends time with her family and enjoys long walks with her dog, Dora.
